About the Poem

Silent Warriors, the centerpiece of our home page, was authored in 2002 by Russ Butcher, a 1961-1963 veteran of Misawa. Russ passed away at his home in St. George Utah on November 26, 2016.

The words of this poem honor all USAFSS men and women, those Silent Warriors who, for over half a century, were committed to tirelessly carrying out their global mission - on land and sea and in the air - in unquestioned and dedicated silence.
